This winter I’ve tried to be a bit more frugal, and a bit healthier.   I’ve gotten into eating plain yogurt, quinoa or rice with a bit of honey or maple syrup with cashews, sunflower seeds, mandarin oranges, avocado  – whatever I have available.  It’s actually quite tasty and makes a quick and easy breakfast or lunch bowl.

So since I was using up mandarin oranges (canned yes I know – it’s probably a sin somewhere) in water only I wondered how much goodness was I wasting?  Well it turned out  – a lot!

Over the course of several breakfasts, I drained my orange water and when I had a couple of cups I reduced it down to a thick glaze.

Now what to use it on? I’m thinking a glaze for chicken, pork or fish!
