I love my dogs, so much so that I make dog biscuits! Yes I do, a small labor of love for my furry babies! I recently had my niece Abby at the house for a week, and I taught her how to make these treats for her dog Nikki! It’s really quite simple, a bit messy, and my dogs think that they are delicious You can buy a “dog” biscuit cutter, or use any shape that you want. The recipe is flexible, you can make them as thick or thin as you like, and as large as you like. The first time I struggled with how to get them “hard” like commercially made biscuits and then I remembered how to make biscotti! So I “double” baked them! Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits 1 14 oz. can pumpkin puree ½ cup peanut butter 3 eggs 1 tsp salt 3 – 4 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for your board 2 – 4 tablespoons water or milk Parchment paper Preheat oven to 300 Mix pumpkin, peanut butter eggs and salt. Starting with 3 cups flour mix until combined, adding a bit of liquid as needed. This dough will be very sticky, slowly add some flour if needed so you can roll it out. Flour a cutting board and then dump the batter onto it counter and roll out to desired thickness. I have medium sized dogs so I roll mine out to about 1/2 inch. It will shrink down a bit. Place the biscuits close to each other. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes. Turn oven off and let cool all of the way. Turn the biscuits over, at this point they should be slightly “soft.” Place back in the oven and turn oven to 300 and bake again for about 30 minutes, or until the biscuits are dry all the way. Let cool in the oven. Let your dog’s enjoy. They are people friendly, but they do taste rather bland to us.
